I can't believe it was almost 3 months ago that we had our Flourish Women’s Conference. 3 nights and 2 FULL days of worship, fellowship, and INCREDIBLE women leaders pouring their hearts out. I feel so fortunate to be part of a congregation of women who desire to pursue God’s will for their own life, but also want to empower other women to do the same. One of my favorite things to do is highlight other women and encourage them in their callings, because for so long I desired that for myself. I longed for a female mentor who wanted to best for me and wanted me to succeed. Not someone who was rooting for me to fail because it made them look better. The Bible actually commands this in Titus 2:4-5:

“These older women must train the younger women to love their husbands and their children, to live wisely and be pure, to work in their homes, to do good, and to be submissive to their husbands. Then they will not bring shame on the word of God.”

Flourish is fulfilling that command...

A woman’s purse is like a secret vault of weapons. It contains all the vital elements we need to face the day. What we carry in it says a lot about who we are and what’s important to us. Besides the basics, (wallet, phone, keys, etc…) every woman has her “handbag must haves.” I thought it would be fun to ask a few of my closest friends to empty their bags and tell us about some of their favorite products...

Hey ladies! I’m super excited about today’s post. Our good friend and leader, Erika Hayes, is dumping out her handbag and revealing her must-have items to us. Erika and her husband Stephen serve as Campus Pastors of Covenant Church Carrollton. They have 2 kids, Bella and Max. In addition to being a full time wife, mom, and pastor, Erika is also a very talented writer. So, with such a full schedule, Erika knows the importance of keeping all the essentials close by! I asked her to not only take a picture of her must haves but also let us know why she loves each item. She has great style and impeccable taste! I know you’ll love getting to take a peek inside her purse.

Kate Spade 2016 Planner – I love to see my schedule written down, so carrying this cute, light-weight planner around with me is good for my brain!

A Special Invitation

I adore the changing of seasons! My favorite season of all is Autumn. September is a sort-of segue month to look forward to the promise of the beautiful coming days of fall; Days where bright skies and patio lunches unfold into shopping for spicy candles, pumpkins and setting a pot of soup on the stove. It almost seems as if the crisp weather brings with it a sharper clarity for refocusing on personal goals. Maybe it’s the familiarity of going back to school, but when Fall rolls around, I am ready to lean in to learning and relationships. But before I can unwrap a scarf and grab a coffee with a friend, I lay out the precious few days left of this wonderful year. I look at my calendar with a critical eye of intentionality. I purpose how, when and where I want to spend my time. And then from those pictures of potential, I shape meaningful meetings, coffee shop conversations and dinner with friends before Friday night football.

I am not sure why exactly, but the Autumn months feel so full of purpose. Like the stew on the stove, the last simmering moments bring everything together. In the coming days, all of the blessing and potential poured into our lives for this year melts into grateful possibility; and with that, a hunger to make every moment count.
