A woman’s purse is like a secret vault of weapons. It contains all the vital elements we need to face the day. What we carry in it says a lot about who we are and what’s important to us. Besides the basics, (wallet, phone, keys, etc…) every woman has her “handbag must haves.” I thought it would be fun to ask a few of my closest friends to empty their bags and tell us about some of their favorite products. I’ll be leading by example and dumping out my purse first. (Complete with links on where to find all my faves!) Ummm, just ignore the graham cracker crumbs and broken crayons….
So I’m a mom to 2 young boys. And it is all consuming. Their stuff is everywhere. ALL. THE. TIME. Even in MY bag. So the contents of my purse are very indicative of the season of life I am currently in. If you had asked me to spill my bag a few years ago things might have been a little more glamorous. But everything I carry with me now is essential. Here’s what usually goes with me everywhere:
(From left to right)
The Message Compact Bible: I’m a little bit old school and like to have a bible with real paper pages in church. And since we go to church A LOT, I keep this one in my bag. It’s small enough to toss in there and not weigh it down. I like to write little notes in the margins and put the date on them. It’s so cool to flip back through the pages and remember what God was speaking to me on a particular day about a certain verse.
Bath & Body Works Stress Relief Mini Hand Sanitizer: Hand sanitizer is a MUST, especially when you have kids. I love this one because it smells great and not medicinal. Kind of like men’s cologne. And anything with the words ‘Stress Relief’ on it is worth a try.
e.l.f. Moisturizing Lipstick in Pink Minx: I’ve never really been a pink lipstick type of gal. I really like nude colors and the occasional classic red. But this is a really soft pink that has enough of a neutral undertone to make it a great everyday lip color.
Mini Michael Kors Honey Perfume: Sephora describes this scent as a “buzzing fragrance with the freshness of green pear and a bright splash of fruity punch and juicy mandarin. Orange blossom resides at the heart of the fragrance and mingles with the nectars of honeysuckle and peach for a note of sparkling femininity. Honey, vanilla, and smooth woods dry down to a warm, golden base.” I just call it summer in a bottle. Mine is just a sample size, because other than Chanel Coco Mademoiselle, I never stick with a fragrance longer than a few months. The tiny size is perfectly portable.
Hot Wheels Cars: So, I have mentioned that I have 2 boys. My boys love cars. Really anything with wheels makes them happy. I’ve started keeping these little cars in my bag as quick prizes (or bribes). There’s nothing like the art of distraction to buy you 10 more minutes at the grocery store. (Right now, Amazon has a pack of 5 for $4.39. You can click the link above to find the deal).
THE EMERGENCY DIAPER: My youngest, who just turned 3, is like 99.9% potty trained. He does a fantastic job when he’s awake. For night time and naps we still do the diaper thing. (No, not pull ups. Diapers. Why? Well, that’s a whole other post for another time.) So I keep an emergency diaper in my bag for accidents or if I think he might fall asleep while we’re out. At this point in my diaper/potty training journey I am not a brand snob. Whatever is on sale is my go to. (You can click the link for a $3 Huggies coupon. You’re welcome.)
Urban Decay Naked 2 Eyeshadow Palette: I adore this set. The pigments are rich and velvety. The color is easy to apply, blend, and layer for a smokey look. Or you can use the lighter colors for a more sheer, “naked”, daytime look. A lot of times I use the darker colors for eyeliner with an angled brush. This is the only eyeshadow palette I use. It’s a bit pricey, but lasts a long time. I’ve had mine for almost 2 years and still have plenty of use left. My ONLY complaint is that there are not enough matte color options. Most of the shadows have some type of shimmer to them so you have to be mindful of that when applying. If you’re looking for shadow with great color depth and staying power then this is the set for you!
Fringe Boho Bag: I love my fringe bag. But even more than the bag I love the price tag. I only paid $7 for it!! Sometimes Walmart just does it! I have carried expensive handbags before and I love them. But because I’m basically a walking vending machine and my purse is usually full of crumbs, lately I’ve been opting for bargain version bags. I’m sure one day I won’t be carrying half eaten granola bars around, at which time I will upgrade my handbag game. Until then, it’s fun finding trendy options on a budget!
I hope you have enjoyed taking a peek into my bag! See you guys next time! Happy Monday!
